Nov 1, 2018 | Uncategorized

Fortunately, there are plenty of amazing gay wedding blogs (run by some fantastic wedding authority bloggers and experts) out there for same-sex couples who want to make their wedding day unique and memorable. Here are 10 of our favourites.

Theodore Magazine

Theodore was created by Alexander Ross, who had faced discrimination from his family and friends when he announced his engagement to now-husband Nick. Wanting to support others and fueled by his passion for LGBTQI+ rights and weddings, he created one of Australia’s first LGBTQI+ wedding directories.

Formerly known as Mr Theodore, this Australian wedding directory is one of the best same-sex wedding guides out there. Now in their fifth year, the folks at Theodore pride themselves on partnering with pro-marriage equality wedding vendors and promoting businesses to the broader LGBTQI+ community.

Wedeqtory

Catering to queer, straight and gay couples in both Australia and New Zealand, Wedeqtory is home to a wide range of wedding suppliers, including wedding dresses, venues, invitations, cakes and flowers, as well as a free wedding planner, online shop and wedding insights.

Launched in 2012, Wedeqtory was the very first wedding platform that offered a safe, welcoming space for LGBTQI+ couples. They began working with the wedding community, allowing vendors who supported marriage equality to proudly showcase their services or venues to same-sex couples. These days, Wedeqtory is not only a premier same-sex wedding resource, they also produced Australia’s first LGBTQI+ Wedding Magazine and are the co-founder of Australia’s only educational Masterclass Series that trains wedding professionals to work effectively and respectfully with LGBTI couples.

Rainbow Wedding Network

Run by Marianne, Cindy and Ira, this long-established blog doesn’t just cover weddings. It also has a range of articles on different topics regarding LGBTQI+ issues, current events, parenting resources, LGBTQI+ related celebrity news, stories from around the world, and much more!

Launched back in 2000, Marianne and Cindy found no other such resources available for their community. When planning their own commitment ceremony, they experienced incredibly limited services that helped LGBTQI+ couples make wedding plans. There was no registry that offered “Partner & Partner” instead of “Bride & Groom”, so they started one themselves!

Pink Wedding Australia

Part of Borrowed Blue Australia’s collection of specialised wedding directories, Pink Wedding Australia is one of the leading LGBTQI wedding directories in Australia. This same-sex wedding resource connects couples with vendors who are supportive of all queer married couples and was created so everyone could feel confident and safe from prejudice when booking with a supplier, regardless of their sexual orientation.

In addition to a fantastic wedding directory, Pink Wedding also includes inspiration, images and interviews from real weddings and articles with tips and guides on planning your wedding.

Dancing With Her

Dancing With Her is a wedding magazine, blog and directory dedicated to celebrating same-sex and queer couples in love.

In 2016, Tara Baker and Arlia Hassell got engaged. And, like many newly-engaged couples, the first thing they did was head to a large magazine store in search of wedding inspiration. What they were presented with were images of happily smiling brides and grooms – couples that were exclusively heterosexual – a selection of media that left them feeling unrepresented. And so, Dancing With Her was created.

In November 2017, Dancing With Her Magazine was launched and now reaches 40+ countries around the globe. These days, the website shares the real stories of couples as well as offers advice to those people who are planning their own wedding day.

Her Bride His Groom

The creation of Adelaide local, Sam Meathrel, Her Bride His Groom is a same-sex wedding directory and online resource for gay, lesbian, transgender and queer couples in Australia and New Zealand. Their aim is to take any stress or angst out of the wedding planning process for same-sex couples by providing an online directory of discerning and equal opportunity wedding suppliers and vendors.

Sam himself has 10 years’ experience in the wedding industry, having managed venues across all of Australia. It is with this experience that he can assist couples in producing only the very best weddings.
