Emerald cut diamond rings are unique, gorgeous and distinct – they have a certain vintage look about them. Also known as a ‘Step Cut’ due to its shape taking on the appearance of steps. The Emerald Cut diamond reflects light differently from other popular diamonds shapes and is best known for casting a hall-of-mirrors effect when the light hits the stone. While less brilliant in its reflection of light, Emerald Cut Diamonds can sometimes be seen as more elegant and subtle, with the interplay of shadows and light. Often inclusions and body colour are more visible with an Emerald Cut diamond when compared to other diamond shapes, in many ways due to the large, open facets. Because of this, when considering an Emerald Cut diamond ring, MAX Diamonds recommends choosing a diamond that has a clarity grade of VS2 or above.

The classic Emerald Cut diamond has a length to width ratio of around 1.50:1, however it is very much a personal preference when you choose a ratio – some customers prefer a longer, slim shape and others like a wider, shorter look.
