Lab Grown Diamonds
At MAX Diamonds we offer a wide selection of diamonds, both natural and lab grown, in various shapes and sizes. Choosing to have a piece of custom-made jewellery set with a lab grown diamond can have many advantages.
MAX Diamonds customers are now considering lab grown diamonds for their affordability.
Why Choose a Lab Grown Diamond?
Lab-grown diamonds have gained popularity over the years for several reasons.
- Affordability: Lab-grown diamonds are generally more affordable than natural diamonds of similar size and quality, making them a great option for budget-conscious customers.
- Traceability: Lab-grown diamonds have a controlled origin, making their supply chain easier to trace and ensuring their conflict-free status.
What is a Lab Grown diamond?
Lab grown diamonds are produced in a laboratory setting rather than natural diamonds, which are formed over millions of years deep within the earth’s crust. Although they are grown in a laboratory, lab grown diamonds have the same chemical composition and crystal structure as natural diamonds. The process of creating lab-grown diamonds typically involves two main methods:
- High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT): This method simulates the conditions under which natural diamonds are formed by subjecting carbon to high pressure and high temperature. This encourages the carbon atoms to crystallise and form diamond structures.
- Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD): In this technique, a diamond seed is placed in a chamber filled with carbon-rich gases. The gases are then ionised, causing the carbon atoms to deposit on the seed and gradually build up a diamond crystal.
Technological advancements have made it possible to create lab-grown diamonds that are almost indistinguishable from natural diamonds. Only with specialised testing equipment can a trained gemmologist distinguish between the two. Both lab grown and natural diamonds are graded using the 4 Cs (carat, cut, colour, and clarity), and have the same physical and optical properties.
Lab Grown Diamonds at Competitive Prices
The difference between lab-grown diamonds and natural diamonds is considerable. While lab-grown diamonds offer advantages in terms of value and cost, many people still prefer the traditional of natural diamonds, due to their historical significance, rarity, and the belief that they hold a unique “romantic” value.
The decision to choose a lab-grown diamond or a natural diamond is a personal choice and at MAX Diamonds, we believe everyone’s personal preferences are valued.
